Youth Trust
The Trust is pleased to announce that we have re-launched the Crystal Palace FC Youth Trust, a small charity set up in 1994. It was based on a model pioneered by Surrey County Cricket Club and its main object is to encourage sporting activity among young people in the local area. For this purpose the charity has several grants available. While not limited to football, the intention is to prioritise grants that encourage participation and development in football. A typical grant would be between £50 (e.g. to help a disadvantaged youngster get kit he/she couldn’t otherwise afford) up to around £400 (e.g. to help sponsor a youth tournament, local league or the development of a new team).
If you know of anyone or any organisation that might want to apply then the Youth Trust can be contacted via this website. (It should be noted that the Youth Trust and CPST are separate organisations but have common trustees/directors)
The Youth Trust recently sponsored two football based projects in the borough during the school summer holidays in 2008.
A project in the Selhurst Ward utilised the astro turf pitch now attached to the Brit School. Football coaching was provided by CPFC's Football In The Community Scheme.
In the Selsdon Ward, local football coaches provided informal training sessions for youngsters aged 10 to 13. This project has been expanded in 2009 to include youngsters up to 16.
It is our intention to additional funding to provide similar projects throughout the borough. We'd like to thank Councillor Gerry Ryan (Selhurst) and Councillor Sara Bashford (Selsdon) for their support for these projects.
